3D printing 101
Learn 3D printing design & watch your creations come to life at Heatherdowns Library.
Before any 3D model can become a physical object, it needs to go through a crucial preparation step called "slicing." This introductory session walks you through exactly how that process works at the library. You'll explore two free software programs—Prusa Slicer and PreForm—that the Making department uses to get print jobs ready for the printers. Along the way, you'll discover how small adjustments in these programs can lead to surprisingly big differences in your final printed results.
This hands-on workshop is designed for teens and adults who want to understand the technical side of 3D printing before submitting their own projects. You'll follow along as instructors demonstrate the real steps involved in processing print requests, giving you practical knowledge you can apply when you're ready to print your own designs. The session runs for 90 minutes and takes place in an accessible meeting room at the library.
