3D printing 101 - Intro to Slicing 3D Models at Heatherdowns Branch Library

Before any 3D model can come to life on the library's printers, it needs to be prepared using specialized software—a process called "slicing." This hands-on workshop walks you through exactly how that happens. You'll explore two free programs: Prusa Slicer and PreForm Slicer, learning how the Making department processes print requests and prepares files for printing. The session shows you how even small adjustments in these programs can lead to big differences in your final results. This class works well for teens and adults who are curious about how 3D printing actually works behind the scenes. You don't need any prior experience—just interest in learning the technical side of making. Both software programs are free to download, so you can practice what you learn at home. The session runs for about an hour and a half at Heatherdowns Branch Library.
