Art on the Dot

Hands-on art activity at the NC Museum of Art's West Building.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's casual, short-form tour experience perfect for families who want to explore art without a big time commitment. A museum docent leads small groups through about three carefully selected artworks in just 30 minutes, sharing insights and inviting visitors to engage with each piece. Best of all, it's completely free and requires general admission only. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, three rounds of these tours run back-to-back with 15-minute breaks between sessions, giving you flexibility to join one tour or stay longer to experience multiple rounds. You can discover different artworks and perspectives each time, making it a great way to return on future weekends and see what new pieces the next docent has chosen to highlight. It's an ideal introduction to the museum for younger children or anyone looking for a manageable art experience.
