Art on the Dot
Hands-on art activity for young children at NC Museum of Art's West Building.
Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's compact tour program, perfect for families who want to explore art without a lengthy time commitment. During each session, a museum guide walks visitors through about three artworks over 30 minutes, offering insights and encouraging conversation. The experience repeats three times each afternoon, with 15-minute breaks between rounds, so you can join one tour or stay for multiple sessions to see different pieces and hear from different guides.
This program is ideal for families with younger children, visitors new to the museum, or anyone seeking a relaxed introduction to the collection. Best of all, Art on the Dot is completely free with general admission. Drop in whenever works best for your family—no advance registration needed. It's a wonderful way to discover what the museum has to offer without feeling rushed.
