Authors! with Meg Waite Clayton
Meet author Meg Waite Clayton at Toledo Library—perfect for teens & tweens.
Meet bestselling author Meg Waite Clayton as she discusses her latest novel, *Typewriter Beach*, a historical fiction tale set in 1957 and 2018 in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The story follows a young actress hidden away in a seaside cottage and an Oscar-nominated screenwriter, and jumps ahead to when their granddaughter discovers a family secret. Clayton will share insights into her writing process, how she creates vivid historical settings, and how she brings 1950s Hollywood to life. The evening features a 45-minute presentation followed by audience questions.
Every ticket includes a copy of the book, and Clayton will be available for a brief signing after the talk. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission seating. The library offers free underground parking accessed from Adams Street. If your family needs accessibility accommodations—including handicapped seating or an ASL interpreter—call the library at least one to two weeks ahead. Note that outside food and beverages aren't permitted, and video recording or flash photography aren't allowed. Tickets are purchased online only through Eventbrite and must be scanned at the door.
