Back Yards Gone Wild: DIY Bluebird Boxes

Back Yards Gone Wild: DIY Bluebird Boxes

Build DIY bluebird boxes and learn backyard habitat conservation at the Nature Center.

A naturalist will introduce you and your family to the birds that nest in cavities, including chickadees, bluebirds, and wrens. You'll start with a short educational presentation, then move into the hands-on part of the program: building your own bluebird box to bring home. Best of all, there's no charge for this activity, and each household receives one kit, courtesy of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Since the program takes place in an outdoor shelter, plan to dress appropriately for the weather. Registration opens March 1st and is required to attend. If you have questions ahead of time, the Nature Realm Visitors Center is available Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at 330-865-8065.
