Be a School Year VolunTEEN

Teen leadership & service role supporting library programs and developing real-world skills.

**Be a School Year VolunTEEN** Is your teen looking for a meaningful way to give back? The library's School Year VolunTEEN program welcomes young people ages 13 through high school graduation to volunteer from September through March. This event kicks off with a mandatory one-hour training session where your teen will learn what it takes to be an effective volunteer. During training, they'll get the rundown on library policies, discover the different volunteer roles available, and understand how to sign up for shifts that work with their schedule. Once trained, your teen can expect to help with a variety of tasks: assisting with children's activities and crafts, playing games, reading with kids, shelving books, and supporting library programs. Before getting started, teens must create an online volunteer account (available beginning September 1st at www.toledolibrary.org/volunteer). Keep in mind that each teen volunteers at just one library location, so they should register for training at the branch where they plan to serve. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Questions? Contact the VolunTEEN Supervisor at the South location or reach out to Mrs. Talena Reynolds at 419.259.5229.
