Be a School Year VolunTEEN

Earn service hours while developing work skills through library volunteering.

Is your teen looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community? The School Year VolunTEEN program at Locke Library welcomes teens ages 13 through high school graduation to volunteer from September through March. This September 3rd session kicks off with mandatory training that prepares volunteers for their roles—you'll learn library policies, what to expect, and how to sign up for ongoing volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. As a trained VolunTEEN, your teen will work alongside library staff helping with activities, crafts, games, and reading time with children, organizing shelves, and assisting with programs. Before volunteering begins, teens must create an online account (starting September 1st at www.toledolibrary.org/volunteer) and complete the one-hour training session. Note that each volunteer works at only one library location, so register for training at the branch where your teen plans to serve. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Questions? Contact the VolunTEEN Supervisor at Locke or reach out to Talena Reynolds at 419.259.5229.
