Bird Watch
Join a citizen-science bird-watching project at Chapel Hill Library.
Your family can step outside on the library terrace and become citizen scientists! Join the New Hope Bird Alliance to participate in Project FeederWatch, a nationwide program where volunteers observe and count birds visiting feeders. You'll have binoculars available to use, interactive bird-themed games to enjoy, temporary tattoos as keepsakes, and a guide to help you identify what you're seeing. On chilly days, hot cocoa rounds out the experience.
The terrace is accessible via stairs or a ramp along the side of the building, and while it's covered, you'll be outdoors so dress in layers and bring your own binoculars if you have them. Seating with views of the bird feeders makes it comfortable for all ages. Kids should be accompanied by an adult. Please note that bad weather may lead to cancellation, so check ahead before heading over.
