Capt. Scupper's Kid's Club: Lego on the Lakes
Captain Scupper's Kids Club: build with Lego at the Great Lakes Museum.
Kids can dive into hands-on creativity at this special program running every Saturday throughout August. At the Great Lakes Community Education Center, young builders design and construct their own Lego vessels inspired by real ships that sailed the Great Lakes—everything from historic schooners to modern freighters, or even replicas of the museum's own Col. James M. Schoonmaker and Tug Ohio. With plenty of Lego bricks provided, children plan, problem-solve, and bring their creations to life while exploring basic design concepts like structure and balance.
The program wraps up with a showcase where kids display their completed vessels and celebrate everyone's work. It's geared toward children 13 and under, though all families are welcome to participate. Best of all, admission is free with your museum ticket—and it's completely free for museum members and families receiving food assistance through the Museums for All program. Registration is required and will be available soon.
