Celebrating the Black Experience: A Travelling Art Exhibit
Art exhibition celebrating Black identity & cultural heritage through diverse media at the library.
This travelling exhibition brings together artwork from 28 artists exploring African American identity, history, and culture. You'll encounter paintings, mixed media pieces, textiles, and sculptures that reflect themes of resilience, spirituality, memory, and heritage across the African Diaspora. The show is organized by the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage and the Kentucky Arts Council, and it's designed to deepen cultural understanding while celebrating the depth and diversity of Black artistic expression.
The exhibition runs through early December and is open during regular library hours, making it easy to visit with your family at your own pace. Whether you're looking to expand your children's perspective on art and history or simply want to experience powerful creative work together, this is a meaningful opportunity to engage with perspectives rooted in lived experience and collective storytelling. No registration or admission fee is required—simply visit during open hours.
