City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire presents Fire Safety

Fire safety course & smoke alarm education from Pittsburgh Fire Bureau.

The City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, in partnership with the Center for Hearing and Deaf Services, is hosting an evening focused on practical fire safety knowledge for adults. During this 90-minute session, you'll learn about essential topics including proper placement and use of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, how to safely operate a fire extinguisher, and how to respond to electrical and cooking fires. The program also covers creating a family fire safety plan, conducting exit drills, and teaching children about fire safety procedures. A particularly valuable aspect of this program is its inclusive approach to safety. There will be dedicated information about fire alarm systems designed for people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, along with a hands-on demonstration of assisted devices. You'll also learn about grants available through the Center for Hearing and Deaf Services to help offset the cost of hearing aids and other assistive equipment. Every attendee receives a free flashing and vibrating smoke detector to take home. ASL interpretation will be provided throughout the event.
