Create a Catrina Mask

Your child will have the chance to design and decorate their own Catrina mask during this hands-on craft session at Birmingham Library. Participants will paint masks inspired by La Calavera Catrina, the iconic skeleton figure associated with Mexico's Day of the Dead celebrations. Beyond the base painting, kids will embellish their creations with flowers and other decorative elements to make each mask truly one-of-a-kind. This activity is geared toward children ages 6–10 and offers a creative way to explore cultural traditions while making something fun to take home. The program is one hour long and takes place in the library's meeting room. Twenty-four seats are currently available, so registering ahead is recommended to secure your child's spot. The Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center is leading this session.
