Discovery Day: My Story

Discovery Day: My Story is a full day of hands-on activities celebrating each person's unique identity and story. Inspired by two museum exhibitions, kids and families will explore interactive experiences throughout the Grand Rapids Art Museum from 10 am to 3 pm. Activities include creating pixel-art avatars and learning about digital images and binary code, building your own story sculpture with LEGO, participating in a scavenger hunt with prizes, decorating a community fabric wall, chatting with museum docents, and imaginative play in the Discovery Gallery. There's also art-making and other surprises throughout the day. Everything is included with general museum admission—no extra fees for the activities. Families can register ahead of time to streamline check-in, which is a helpful option if you want to skip the line and jump into the fun. This is a great choice for families with kids of various ages who enjoy hands-on learning and creative projects.
