Exploring Chocolate
Hands-on chocolate workshop where kids explore varieties and make their own treats.
Chocolate lovers ages 16 and up are invited to discover what makes dark, milk, and white chocolate so different—and then bake with all three. You'll create white chocolate bark topped with your choice of nuts and dried fruit, prepare a milk chocolate snack cake, and make the viral double dark chocolate cupcakes from the 2024 Olympics. Your instructor, Beth Phlegar, is a retired IT professional with a lifelong passion for baking who loves sharing that joy with others. The class includes hands-on learning about chocolate varieties and their baking applications, plus a chance to taste what you make together.
You'll head home with your white chocolate bark, an 8-by-8-inch milk chocolate cake, three to four cupcakes, and recipes to recreate everything. The fee is $50. Please note that recipes contain eggs, tree nuts, and wheat. To support the foundation's sustainability efforts, bring a reusable container that holds at least four cupcakes. Class size is intentionally kept small to create a meaningful experience. If you have accessibility needs, reach out to 577 before class so they can provide appropriate support.
