Fall Food Preservation Week

Learn traditional food preservation techniques at the Historic Village during this hands-on week.

Step back in time and discover how families preserved food before modern refrigeration. During this special day at the Historic Village, you'll explore authentic 19th-century canning and harvesting methods through hands-on activities and live demonstrations. Watch as our farm staff showcase traditional butchering practices—the techniques people once relied on to prepare meat for the long winter months ahead. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn practical skills from a different era while getting a real sense of how people lived and worked seasonally. Kids and adults alike will appreciate seeing history come alive through activities and cooking demonstrations. General Historic Village admission covers your entry, so you can enjoy the full experience without additional fees.
