Fishing for Fossils at Fisherman's Point Hike

Fishing for Fossils at Fisherman's Point Hike

Hunt for ancient fossils with a park naturalist at Falls of the Ohio State Park.

Join a park naturalist for an hour of fossil hunting at Fisherman's Point. You and your family will search the fossil beds for snails, crinoids, and some of the area's most impressive coral specimens. This hands-on experience invites you to bring a deck broom and bucket to help uncover fossils from the ground. It's a great way for kids to learn about natural history while getting outdoors and doing real exploratory work. Wear sturdy shoes designed for walking on rocks, as you'll be navigating the rocky terrain. The program is free to join, with a $2 parking fee for the park. The naturalist-led experience meets on the Observation Deck and runs for one hour. This activity works well for families with children who enjoy nature and hands-on learning, and no special experience or knowledge is needed to participate.
