Free Day + Celebration: Makers MaKE
Free museum day celebrating artists, makers, and storytellers at Milwaukee Art Museum.
This is a wonderful free day at the museum that celebrates the creativity and traditions of your community. You'll encounter artists, makers, and storytellers sharing their work and practices throughout the day. It's a chance to connect with the people behind the art while exploring what inspires and shapes Milwaukee.
There's truly something for everyone here. Younger kids can join story time and hands-on making activities, or create a butterfly art project with a community muralist. Families can watch cozy animated shorts about Wisconsin life, catch performances by a high school orchestra and a live DJ, and browse a holiday market full of locally made goods. For those interested in deeper dives, there's a gallery talk about George Morrison's artwork, and the day wraps with an annual youth art show exploring themes of identity and belonging. Admission is completely free, and one of the gallery talks includes ASL interpretation for accessibility.
