Freighter Golf: Around the Great Lakes

Learn Great Lakes history through a fun golf-themed exhibit at the museum.

Your family can combine mini golf with Great Lakes exploration at this unique activity taking place on the historic Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship. The course features five custom putting holes, each inspired by one of the five Great Lakes. As you play, you'll discover stories, landmarks, and regional history that bring the Great Lakes to life. It's a fun way to learn while having some friendly competition, whether you're visiting with family, friends, or on your own. The best part? Freighter Golf is included with your Museum Ship admission, so there's no extra cost to play. Throughout June, you'll have weekly chances to score a hole-in-one and win a free museum membership. The experience works well for visitors of all ages and skill levels—no golfing experience needed. For more details and to plan your visit, check out the museum's website.
