Glamour in the Gilded Age

Step back into Pittsburgh's wealthy past at this festive evening celebrating the city's own Gilded Age history. Hosted at the Heinz History Center in partnership with The Frick Pittsburgh, this program brings together expert curators for a lively discussion about the industrial titans, influential families, and social transformation that shaped the era. You'll hear fascinating stories spanning from the lavish world of families like the Carnegies and Fricks to the experiences of Pittsburgh's prominent African American communities and working-class residents. The conversation also connects Pittsburgh's real history to HBO's popular series "The Gilded Age." The evening combines learning with hands-on exploration and entertainment. Browse the new Styling the Gilded Age textile gallery and A.H. Gorson: Painting the Steel City exhibition, then get up close with historic gowns from the museum's collection to appreciate their detailed construction and fabrics. After hours, you can enjoy cocktails, live music, and an interactive scavenger hunt while exploring the full museum. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for members. Advance online registration is required. Feel free to dress up in Gilded Age-inspired attire if you'd like—it's a great excuse for a festive Friday night out with friends.
