Halloween Legends and Lore

Halloween Legends and Lore

Halloween storytelling & activities at a historic village museum.

Old World Wisconsin transforms into a spooky celebration across six October evenings, featuring over 20 activities that blend history with Halloween thrills. Families will encounter live storytelling, folkloric performances, candlelit traditions, and interactive experiences set throughout the Crossroads Village. New attractions this year include a wooded performance called "The Man in the Black Suit," a lost lumber camp search, a bonfire gathering for ghost stories, and a graveyard caretaker's tales. Returning favorites like the lantern-lit Sorghum Maze, Victorian séance, and cultural performances from the KMPerform School keep the experience fresh for repeat visitors. The evening runs from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m., with plenty to keep kids and adults engaged. Beyond the attractions, you'll find hot food, warm drinks, and local music woven throughout. The on-site restaurants open at 4:00 p.m., so arriving early for dinner is a smart move. Tickets range from $18–$26. This family-friendly event works well for kids who enjoy mild scares and storytelling rather than intense horror, and there's genuinely something for everyone to discover.
