Ham Radio in the Park!

Ham Radio in the Park!

Join ham radio operators demonstrating amateur radio at Fort Harrison State Park.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at amateur radio when the Indianapolis Radio Club sets up shop at Fort Harrison State Park. Operators will have their equipment on display at the Visitor Center, actively connecting with fellow enthusiasts across the country. Families are welcome to watch, chat with the operators, and learn what this hobby is all about. Best of all, if your kids (or you!) want to try it out, you'll have the chance to get on the air and make your own contact—no experience or special skills needed. This is a completely free event that welcomes everyone, though keep in mind the state park does charge an admission fee for entry. Whether your family is curious about radio technology, interested in learning a new hobby, or just looking for something different to do outdoors, this is a great opportunity to explore something many people don't get to experience. Stop by the Visitor Center, ask questions, and see if amateur radio might be your family's next passion.
