Hibernation or Migration?

Hibernation or Migration?

Discover which animals hibernate and which migrate—and learn why—with a park naturalist.

As the weather turns cold, many animals prepare for winter in different ways. Some settle in for a long sleep while others pack up and head south. At this program, a naturalist will guide your family through the fascinating strategies animals use to survive the colder months. You'll explore which creatures stay put, which ones travel, and the reasons behind these remarkable adaptations. The one-hour session takes place in the classroom at Falls of the Ohio State Park Interpretive Center. Best for curious kids who love learning about wildlife and nature, this hands-on experience includes admission to the park's exhibit gallery. Thanks to support from the Falls of the Ohio Foundation, the $7 program fee is completely covered—there's no cost to attend. Contact Hannah McKay at (812) 590-8433 or hmckay@dnr.in.gov if you have questions before your visit.
