Homeless For The Holidays 3 at The Winchester
Drumplay, a Cleveland-based world and jazz ensemble with nearly 35 years of performing experience, is bringing their unique sound to this all-ages event. The group specializes in what they call "rhythmprovisations"—spontaneous creative performances that ensure no two shows are ever the same. Drawing from Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and Middle Eastern musical traditions blended with jazz, Drumplay has released over ten albums and collaborated with some of the region's most accomplished musicians.
What makes this performance special is its connection to the late Daniel Thompson, Cuyahoga County's First Poet Laureate, whose work addressed homelessness and social justice. Thompson was also a Freedom Rider who worked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Drumplay honors his legacy by weaving spoken-word elements into their music, creating an evening that combines instrumental improvisation with meaningful poetry. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the show beginning at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $15, and the event welcomes families and all ages.
