Kids Club: Maria Tallchief
Learn about prima ballerina Maria Tallchief in this Kids Club program at Carnegie Library.
Join us for an hour-long program celebrating the life and legacy of Maria Tallchief, a groundbreaking figure in American dance history. Your child will learn what it means to be a prima ballerina—the top-ranking female dancer in a ballet company—and discover how Tallchief became the first American to achieve this prestigious rank, as well as the first Native American prima ballerina. Her story is one of breaking barriers, preserving cultural traditions, and inspiring young dancers everywhere.
This program is designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and is part of the library's Native American and Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month celebration. It's a great opportunity for kids interested in dance, history, or learning about inspiring role models. For more information or to register, contact the Homewood location directly.
