Kids Club: Maria Tallchief
Kids learn about prima ballerina Maria Tallchief at Carnegie Library's Beechview branch.
Your elementary-aged child will discover the remarkable life and legacy of Maria Tallchief during this one-hour Kids Club session. Participants will learn how she became America's first prima ballerina—the top-ranked female dancer in a ballet company—and the first Native American to achieve this distinction. Her story is one of breaking barriers, preserving Native American traditions, and inspiring generations of dancers.
This program is part of the library's Native American and Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month celebration in November. It's designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and offers a meaningful way to explore an important historical figure. For more information or to register, you can contact the Beechview location directly.
