Kids Club: Papel Picado

Kids Club: Papel Picado

Create papel picado and learn Day of the Dead traditions.

Your child will explore the traditional Mexican craft of papel picado—delicate, intricately cut paper art—while learning about the cultural significance of this art form and the Day of the Dead celebration. Kids will get hands-on creating their own papel picado designs that represent themselves or people who matter to them. Depending on your child's age and maturity level, this is also a chance for meaningful conversations about how different cultures honor and remember loved ones. This Kids Club session is designed for school-age children in grades K–5 and runs for one hour. It's part of the library's Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month programming, making it a great way to experience cultural traditions in a creative, welcoming environment.
