Kids Club: Papel Picado
Learn the Mexican art of papel picado and Day of the Dead traditions at Carnegie Library.
Your child will discover the vibrant Mexican craft of papel picado—intricate perforated paper art—while learning about el Día de Muertos, the Day of the Dead. During this one-hour session, kids will create their own papel picado designs that celebrate people who are meaningful to them. Depending on your child's age and maturity level, this is also a chance to explore how different cultures honor and remember loved ones who have passed away.
This program is designed for school-age children in kindergarten through fifth grade and is part of the library's Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month celebration. Kids will leave with a handmade craft to take home. The session runs for one hour and takes place at the Knoxville branch of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. For more details or to register, you can contact the library directly at 412-622-3114 or visit their website.
