Martial Arts for Kids

Kids learn kicks, punches & self-defense with instructor Shelly Blanco at Sylvania Branch Library.

Your child will learn fundamental martial arts skills from Sempai Shelly Blanco of Ohio Martial Arts during this 45-minute session. The class focuses on teaching kicks, punches, and practical self-defense moves while helping kids build confidence and develop real strategies for handling bullying situations. This is a hands-on, active class—participants should wear comfortable clothing and be ready for some good physical activity mixed with plenty of fun. Designed for children ages 6 to 10, this program gives young students a chance to gain skills they can use both in and out of the classroom. Whether your child is brand new to martial arts or looking to try something active, this session offers a welcoming introduction to the sport and the life lessons that come with it. The library's accessible meeting space can comfortably hold up to 65 people, making it a great community gathering spot for families.
