Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play at South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center
Teens explore a Simpsons-themed play at South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center.
Imagine a world where civilization has collapsed and survivors gather around a campfire trying to remember an old TV episode of The Simpsons. This is the premise of Mr Burns, a creative theatrical production that follows these characters across three timelines spanning decades. What starts as nostalgic recollections of pop culture gradually transforms into the myths and legends of an entirely new society. The play explores how our entertainment—sitcom plots, commercials, and songs—might evolve into something completely different when passed down through generations.
This is a fun, imaginative show from SMHS Theatre that celebrates both the resilience of pop culture and the power of live performance. General admission tickets are $11 in advance ($9 for students), or $1 more if purchased at the door. Seating is first-come, first-served with no assigned spots. The production runs for three nights with a Sunday matinee option, making it convenient for various schedules. It's a great choice for families who enjoy thoughtful, clever theater and don't mind a more unconventional storyline.
