Nature Play Day at NCMA
Free outdoor play exploration at NC Museum of Art grounds.
Your kids will have a blast exploring the outdoor spaces at the North Carolina Museum of Art during this free, drop-in program. The museum sets up a designated area stocked with special materials designed to spark creativity and nature discovery—think fort-building supplies, costumes, bubbles, paint, and more. A trained play facilitator from Prairie Ridge will be on hand to guide the fun and help children engage with the materials and natural surroundings.
This is an outdoor-focused experience, so plan for your kids to get dirty and dress them (and yourself) for the weather conditions. It's designed with younger children in mind, particularly those under 7, though everyone is welcome to join in. Since it's completely free and drop-in style, there's no registration needed—just show up ready to play. Meet near the Welcome Center when you arrive.
