Netta & Ru presented by Dobama Theatre

Dobama Theatre brings an atmospheric drama exploring the lives of two sisters navigating 1950s Montgomery, Alabama. Ruby practices hoodoo but has mysteriously lost her magical abilities, while Netta, her close companion, pursues respectability and an engagement. As the historic bus boycott unfolds around them, their relationship faces serious strain from infidelity, loss, and conflicting beliefs. When an unexpected visitor arrives in town following a murder, both women must grapple with personal truths while responding to the demands of a pivotal moment in history. This is an adult-oriented production featuring mature language, complex situations, and references to violence—plan accordingly if you're considering bringing older teens. The play runs without intermission, so budget your evening accordingly. Tickets range from $25 to $75.
