Paws 4 Reading

Paws 4 Reading

Read aloud to a therapy dog to build reading confidence at York County Library.

Does your child enjoy reading but could use a confidence boost? This program pairs young readers with a trained therapy dog, creating a relaxed setting for kids to practice reading aloud. Students take turns reading to the dog, which helps build fluency and self-assurance in a low-pressure way. It's designed for children ages 6 through 11 and offers a fun, supportive approach to developing reading skills. Space is limited to 8 participants, so early registration is important. To sign up, register online or call the library at 803-831-7774. Registration closes shortly before the session begins. This is a great opportunity for kids who want to strengthen their reading abilities while spending time with a four-legged friend.
