Pittsburgh Botanic Garden presents Super Soil

Have you ever wondered why some seeds sprout while others don't? The answer lies in what's beneath the surface. This hands-on workshop invites kids to dig into the science of soil—discovering what makes it fertile and learning about the tiny organisms that call it home. Young participants will literally get their hands dirty as they explore the layers and properties of soil, uncovering the secrets of the ground under our feet. Designed for kindergarten through fifth graders, this program offers an engaging introduction to soil science through direct exploration and discovery. It's a great way for curious kids to develop a deeper understanding of how nature works from the ground up, with plenty of opportunity for tactile learning and observation.
