Polaris

Settle in for a cozy evening at the planetarium! Families are invited to wear their favorite pajamas and experience Polaris, an award-winning film featuring a curious polar bear and penguin who embark on a stargazing adventure. Over 29 minutes, watch as these two friends explore the stars and uncover the mystery of the long winter nights at Earth's poles, traveling from their homemade observatory all the way around Earth, Mars, and Saturn. This film works well for kids ages 4 and up. After the show, the fun continues with hands-on winter science activities and treats like hot cocoa with liquid nitrogen marshmallows. Families will also enjoy a special photo moment with James the penguin and Vladimir the polar bear, and everyone leaves with a printed and digital keepsake photo. Tickets are $13 for members and $15 for non-members (plus general admission), with free admission for Explorers Society members who receive a bonus gift. Captions are available, and the staff can discuss other accessibility options when you arrive.
