Public Stargazing at the BGSU Observatory
Free public stargazing through telescopes at Bowling Green State University's observatory.
Grab your family and head to the rooftop of the Physical Sciences Laboratory Building for a chance to explore the night sky through real telescopes. You'll get to look through both a professional research telescope and smaller amateur scopes while learning how to spot constellations and planets visible that evening. A staff member will greet you when you arrive and guide you through different viewing stations.
Getting there is straightforward—just take the elevator to the roof (look for the "R" button; signs will help you find it). Bundle up, since it's noticeably windier and colder up there. Keep in mind that sessions only happen when skies are clear, so if you're unsure about conditions, call (419) 372-8831 about an hour before the scheduled start for a recorded update. When you're on the roof, phones are fine for astronomy apps or photos without flash, but please skip the light and calls so everyone can enjoy the experience.
