Public Stargazing at the BGSU Observatory

Bring your family to look through powerful telescopes at the night sky from the rooftop observatory at Bowling Green State University. You'll have the chance to peer through a large research-grade telescope as well as smaller amateur telescopes, and trained staff will help you identify constellations and planets currently visible in the sky. It's a hands-on way to explore astronomy without needing any prior experience. Sessions happen on the roof of the Physical Sciences Laboratory Building, accessed by elevator (look for the "R" button). Dress warmly, as the rooftop tends to be cooler and windier than ground level. Please note that stargazing only happens when skies are clear—if there's rain, snow, fog, or significant clouds, the session cancels. You can call (419) 372-8831 one hour before the scheduled start time to confirm whether that night's session is going ahead. Once you arrive, staff will greet you and guide you through the different viewing stations.
