Ritter Planetarium: "5,000 Eyes"

Planetarium show exploring the universe with NASA's DESI instrument.

Journey through the universe with a stunning full-dome film that explores how scientists are mapping galaxies like never before. "5,000 Eyes" focuses on the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), a cutting-edge tool that measures the light from countless galaxies at once. You'll experience the largest structures in the cosmos by flying through actual data collected by this remarkable instrument, then visit Kitt Peak to see the telescope in action and meet the international researchers behind this groundbreaking work. Your evening includes three parts: a live guide who'll point out constellations and planets visible from Toledo, the immersive full-dome show, and a chance to ask an astronomer anything about what you've experienced. Weather permitting, you'll also get to peer through a telescope at Brooks Observatory. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors, and UToledo community members (kids 3 and under are free). Arrive early to explore lobby displays before the show starts. First-come, first-served seating means no advance reservations needed—just show up and enjoy an hour of cosmic discovery with your family.
