Ritter Planetarium: "Stars of the Pharaohs"

Planetarium show "Stars of the Pharaohs" at U of Toledo.

Bring your family to explore the night sky and ancient wonders at this special planetarium experience. During July, the Ritter Planetarium features "Stars of the Pharaohs," an immersive journey through ancient Egypt's connection to astronomy. You'll discover how the Egyptians used the stars to keep time, develop calendars, and construct their magnificent temples and tombs—all beautifully recreated in the planetarium's full-dome theater. The evening begins with a live guide pointing out constellations and planets visible from Toledo, followed by the featured presentation and an open question-and-answer session with an astronomy expert. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors, and UToledo community members (children 3 and under are free). Friday evening shows start at 8:30 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes early so you can explore lobby displays. The planetarium program lasts about an hour, and afterward you'll have the chance to view the night sky through telescopes at the observatory, weather permitting. It's first-come, first-served—no advance reservations needed. This program works well for families with school-age children and anyone curious about astronomy and ancient history.
