River Stomp (Families, Ages 4+)
Splash and explore the Maumee River's shallow pools and exposed rocks.
This is your chance to turn a late-summer visit to the Maumee River into an adventure. When water levels drop in late August and September, the riverbed reveals hidden treasures—exposed rocks and shallow pools become natural playgrounds. Your family will wade through these shallow areas, exploring what lives in the water and getting a real sense of the river ecosystem up close.
The activity works best for kids ages four and up who don't mind getting wet and muddy. Expect to spend time turning over rocks, observing aquatic life, and splashing around in the low water. It's a hands-on way for kids to connect with nature and discover the creatures that call the Maumee River home. Bring a change of clothes and let everyone embrace the outdoor exploration.
