SALUTE Storytellers Showcase

SALUTE Storytellers Showcase

Free storytelling showcase at the Toledo Zoo featuring live performers.

Join a one-of-a-kind celebration at the Toledo Zoo where individuals with developmental disabilities share their personal stories on stage. This free, public event brings together a partnership of Lucas County Developmental Disabilities Services, the University of Toledo, and the Zoo to create a platform for authentic voices. You'll experience live storytelling performances filled with humor, heart, and genuine human connection, plus special entertainment from the Sunshine Communities Bell Choir and an art showcase featuring work by artists with developmental disabilities. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Malawi Event Center. No zoo admission is required—simply park in the Anthony Wayne Trail lot and let staff know you're attending SALUTE Storytellers. The Zoo provides golf carts for those who need them, accessible restrooms with an adult changing table, a calming space, and live captions. After the performances, stick around for a reception to meet the storytellers and artists, enjoy refreshments, and hear more about their creative journeys. Contact Taylor Czaja at Taylor.Czaja@Toledozoo.org with any accessibility questions or special accommodation needs.
