Solar Oven S'mores
Build and cook s'mores with a solar oven at Oregon Library.
Kids ages 6 to 10 can explore solar power in a hands-on way at this Oregon Library program. Participants will build their own solar oven from scratch, then put it to work by harnessing the sun's heat to toast marshmallows and assemble fresh s'mores. It's a fun combination of science and snacking that runs for one hour.
This activity works well for kids curious about how renewable energy works and who enjoy outdoor-style treats. No special experience is needed—just bring a willingness to learn and an appetite for s'mores. The program takes place in the library's meeting rooms, which are wheelchair accessible.
