Sourdough Bread Baking (September)
Sourdough Bread Baking (September) at The 577 Foundation
Ready to master the art of sourdough? This two-part hands-on class walks you through the entire process, starting with the basics. In the first session, you'll learn how sourdough actually works, mix up your own starter to take home in a glass jar with care instructions, and taste fresh-baked bread while discovering the history behind this traditional craft. The second session brings everything together—you'll check on your starter's progress, learn the "pull and fold" technique, swap stories with fellow bakers, and receive a collection of recipes from your instructors covering everything from chocolate chip cookies to crackers and baguettes.
Led by two experienced community instructors, this class is designed for teens and adults (16+) who want to bake confidently at home. The $80 fee covers both two-hour evening sessions. Since class sizes are intentionally small to create meaningful learning, spots fill up quickly.
