Sourdough Bread Baking (September)
Two-part sourdough-baking class at The 577 Foundation—learn to make real bread.
Ready to master sourdough? This two-session class removes the mystery from bread baking and gives you real, practical skills you can use at home. You'll start by learning the fundamentals of how sourdough works, then mix up your very own starter while discovering the traditions behind this timeless craft. There's fresh-baked bread to sample, and you'll take home your starter in a glass jar with complete care instructions—everything you need to keep it thriving.
In the second session, you'll check in on your starter's progress, share your experiences, and dive into the "pull and fold" technique for working with dough. The instructors will send you home with a collection of recipes covering everything from chocolate chip cookies and English muffins to crackers and baguettes. You'll finish the class feeling confident and inspired to create your own sourdough treats. The class costs $80 for both sessions combined and is designed for ages 16 and up. If you have accessibility questions or need accommodations, reach out to the organization before registering so they can support your participation.
