Star Struck: Deep Sky Objects (Adults and 8+)
Stargazing adventure at Wiregrass Lake—learn constellations and spot planets with naturalists.
Escape the city's glow and discover what the night sky really looks like. This program takes you on a guided tour of constellations and deep-sky wonders led by Metroparks naturalists. You'll also get to observe planets, galaxies, and distant objects through a telescope brought by amateur astronomer Jim Gasser. It's a chance to connect with the stories written in the stars and experience the beauty of a truly dark sky.
The event runs from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. and welcomes adults and children 8 and older (younger children must be with an adult). Plan to bring a camp chair if you'd like to sit, and dress warmly in layers since you'll be outside at night. The main date is October 13th, with October 14th as a backup in case of clouds—registered participants will be notified if the date changes. This location is fully accessible, and the Metroparks team can adapt the program for individual needs if you let them know at registration, ideally 72 business hours ahead. Best of all, this program is free.
