Stories from the Streets

Stories from the Streets at 138 East Black St

Stories from the Streets is a writing workshop open to adults of all experience levels, facilitated by Matt Shaw from Speak Up Magazine—a publication created by people experiencing homelessness. During the two-hour session, Matt leads guided discussions and shares writing prompts designed to spark ideas and get creative juices flowing. All materials are provided, including a notebook and pen, so you just need to show up ready to write and share in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. This is a casual, no-pressure opportunity to explore your voice through writing alongside others. No registration is needed, though space is limited to 25 participants. The workshop is part of the library's broader commitment to arts and creative literacy, recognizing that creative expression and thoughtful conversation are valuable ways to learn and connect. Whether you're a seasoned writer or picking up a pen for the first time, you're welcome here.
