Teen Open Mic Night - and Rock Hill Youth Poet Laureate Commencement Performance
Teen performers share spoken word and music at an open mic, plus Rock Hill Youth Poet Laureate ceremony.
This is a chance for young performers to step into the spotlight and share their work with a supportive audience. Teens ages 12–18 can perform spoken word or music, with each performance lasting 3–5 minutes. Whether your teen is trying out a brand-new piece, building confidence on stage, or connecting with other creative young people, all experience levels are welcome here. If your family member would rather listen than perform, that's perfect too—family and friends are invited to attend and enjoy the show.
The evening also features a special announcement: the candidates for Rock Hill's Youth Poet Laureate will perform, and the new laureate will be named during the event. If your teen wants to perform, they'll need to submit poetry or musical selections ahead of time (content should be family-friendly), and all performers must be between 12 and 18. Registration is required and opens October 23 by calling (803) 981-5870 or registering online. Space is limited to 50 people total.
