Try It! Youth Fishing Programs (Ages 17 & Under)
Youth fishing program at Cannonball Prairie—learn to fish in nature.
This is a great opportunity for kids to experience fishing in a relaxed, welcoming environment at Cannonball Prairie Metropark. Whether your child has never held a fishing rod or already loves casting a line, they're welcome to join. The program runs as an open-house style event, so you can arrive anytime during the three-hour window and stay as long as you'd like. Best of all, it's completely free with no registration needed.
On this date, fishing poles and bait will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, though kids are also welcome to bring their own equipment. Just plan to dress for the weather and bring sturdy shoes, plus a water bottle. One adult must stay with any child throughout the program. Kids ages 16 and 17 will need an Ohio fishing license. Remember to take all live bait home with you when you leave—it helps keep the park's ecosystem healthy. These programs happen rain or shine, so come ready for whatever weather August brings.
