The Outsiders

The Outsiders

S.E. Hinton's classic coming-of-age drama comes to the Stranahan Theater stage.

This Tony Award-winning musical brings the classic story of teenage rivalry and friendship to life on stage. Based on S.E. Hinton's beloved novel and Francis Ford Coppola's film, The Outsiders follows a group of Greasers in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma as they navigate conflict with their wealthier rivals while searching for belonging and purpose. The production features dynamic choreography, an original score, and explores themes of family, loyalty, and finding good in the world, even when it feels out of reach. The show runs two and a half hours with one intermission. It's recommended for ages 10 and up, though families should know the production includes flashing lights, loud sounds, theatrical haze, and scenes depicting violence, domestic abuse, and suicide. There's also a chance that water, washable red liquid, or small rubber pieces from special effects may land in the first two rows. Right now, season memberships are available; individual tickets will go on sale later. Multiple performance times are scheduled throughout the week to accommodate different schedules.
